Yom Kippur and Repentance
I have been reading over the last several months and
watching videos about the warnings of four blood moons and Yom Kippur; and how
the judgment of God is going to fall or something catastrophic is going to
happen. For those who may not know what
Yom Kippur is, it’s a time that Jewish people set aside to forgive and repent
and turn back to God.
Throughout history some pretty astonishing things have occurred
around these dates. With everything that
has been unfolding in the United States and abroad especially with the direct threat
of Iran on America and Israel many prophecies have created fear in people.
What I don’t understand about this, is it appears that some
have prepared by removing money out of accounts and stocking up on food and
water and preparing for an economic collapse or war that would cause drastic
things to change.
I find it difficult to understand why believers think they
need to stock up on stuff they cannot take with them in the rapture? Since this seems to be what many of the
prophets are assuming is bound to happen?
Let me go on further to say that God never called us as His children and
disciples to scare people to the cross.
The love of God will never be appropriately demonstrated in fear to
those who do not have a relationship with Him.
YES the Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
but that is a different place of relationship.
First, one must come to know Him through His love; because
honestly if someone is not saved the judgment of God on them will be the same
regardless of what kind of life they are living. Because bottom line is they have rejected Him
and His sacrifice. However the fear of
the Lord truly begins the relationship with the one who accepts Him as Lord and Savior. This is because
we have made a covenant to serve Him in spirit and truth and if we do not abide
in Him and His ways we will be judged by our actions.
“But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of
stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given,
of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they
will ask the more.” –Luke 12:48
I don’t feel like the world needs anymore fear than it
already has; there is so much turmoil abroad right now, not only economically but
spiritually, governmentally, illnesses, diseases and basically everything that
has been placed on the nature of man since Adam and Eve separated themselves by
sin. Sin is poison and as long as the
world is infused with it, the only hope we have is in the love of Christ.
As the days seem to be shifting us into another era, we must
hold onto the words that God spoke to us “Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “Turn
to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So
rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the LORD your God, for He is
gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents
from doing harm…Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, weep between the
porch and the altar; let them say, “Spare Your people, O LORD, and do not give
Your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. wherefore
should they say among the people, Where is their God?” Joel 2 12-17
Unfortunately, I see a lot of ministers doing the exact opposite of what the Lord instructs us to do in the scriptures. If they go around claiming this is going to happen on this day and that is going to happen on that day and nothing happens it creates a mockery of God and His plan. We are not to wait and plead for the day of judgment, we are to be about His business leading as many people as we can out of the snares of the enemy and into the arms of Grace and Mercy only found in Christ alone.
We are not going to draw people to the cross by speaking of
possible catastrophic events that are Biblically telling of end time
scenarios. There is not going to be
anything on this Earth that will happen that will be worse than Eternal separation
from God. Not even the authentication of
hell will bring more remorse than an Eternal separation from Almighty God.
Let us demonstrate the call of God on every person’s heart
for His desire is that none should perish but all have Eternal life through
repentance. Let Yom Kippur be a time of
repentance not only for the Jewish people but for ALL people and pray that God
turn this people and Nations abroad back to Him not through events of turmoil,
but through the heartfelt realization of how much He loves them.
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him
while he is near:”- Isaiah 55:6
